Songs for pleasant listening (Stars of Goa)

FC Global Music, Mumbai, have released a collection or old Konkani songs sung by some of the best singers from the Konkani stage and compiled by Felix Correia. These songs previously released on cassette make for pleasant listening.
‘Scientist’ the first track on the album is sung by the late Alfred Rose in his own inimitable style. Lorna sings ‘Kallzacho Kunvor’, the late C Alvares and Mohana render ‘Sun’ and the late Robin Vaz sings the hit ‘Backbaychem varem’. Rita Rose continues with ‘Londoncho Makod’, Englebert Rose with Alfred Rose sings ‘Tunch Maka Zai’ followed by Anthony San’s ‘Maink Chitt’ and Lawrence de Tiracol’s ‘Retire Zatoch’.
There is ‘Nustekaram’ by Lourdes-Kitty-Robin, Bab Peter’s tribute ‘Amche Artiste’, Antonette’s ‘Nouro Zai Tazo’, Robin and Betty’s ‘Ek Cheddum’ and Vin Paul’s ‘Konkani bhas’. ‘Kapod Nes’ is a humorous quintet by Joe/Luis Rose, Antonette- Fatima- Betty (listen to Luis Rose, great singing) Peter V Fernandes sings ‘Duddvanche Zadd’ and accompanies Vivian Fernandes on ‘Kazari Bailechi Axea’.
M Kumar sings ‘Maria’, Schubert Rose, the touching ‘Anv Nhoi Konnancho’ and Connie Rose, ‘Cheddum hanv Cheddum’. The final track ‘Goemkar’ has the late Alfred Rose,
S Lemos and Titta Pretto singing a great medley of songs.
The album produced by Felix Correia and Cyril Santamaria contains enjoyable songs and is good value for money. Go get it!!
